I joined the team at Shaw Veterinary Centre in August 2016. I love working here and am enjoying getting to know our clients and their pets.
I grew up in Devon, surrounded by cats, dogs and chickens, and spent much of my spare time helping out at the local farm. Becoming a vet seemed like the obvious career choice, and this was realised in 2007 when I graduated from Bristol University.
I went straight into first opinion practice working with companion animals in a small independent practice in South Wales. After gaining confidence in the basics (and adopting two cats!), I moved to work in a busy veterinary hospital, where I stayed for several years, gaining experience managing more complex medical and surgical cases. Gradually I began to miss working in a small practice, where one can really get to know each client, so jumped at the chance to join the team here when the opportunity arose.
Outside of work I enjoy walking (Dartmoor and the Lake District are my favourites!), cooking, being part of a local pub quiz team, and playing in a brass band – a hobby that I have had since the age of ten!
