Shaw Veterinary Centre was built in 1989, and was originally a branch surgery of Eastcott Veterinary Hospital. When David Warnes joined the practice in 1993 to run Shaw Veterinary Centre, it was still a one-vet surgery, although it has gradually expanded over the years. David and his wife Caroline bought the practice back in 2006, and the practice has continued to expand until we now have 1 full-time and 2 part-time vets, 3 full-time and 2 part-time Veterinary Nurses and 1 full-time and 3 part-time receptionists.

Not surprisingly, we gradually outgrew the original unit and were very fortunate to be able to take on the lease for the unit next door as this has allowed us to enlarge our premises to provide a much better service to our pets and their owners including a much larger waiting room and reception area, two extra consulting rooms, separate kennel areas for cats and dogs, an isolation area and a separate prep room and operating theatre.

David Warnes and Caroline Warnes retired from the practice in December 2020. At which point the Imogen Read took on the role of Clinical Director, whilst also remaining a full-time Vet at the practice. 

We are extremely proud to announce that Shaw Veterinary Centre has passed the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme inspection at the highest level open to us, with some very positive feedback from the Inspector. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) regulates the veterinary profession. The Practice Standards Scheme is a voluntary initia­tive: not all practices are part of it yet.

Pets are members of the family and you rightly expect that they will receive excellent medical and surgical treatment. RCVS accreditation means peace of mind for you, knowing that Shaw Veterinary Centre is taking every step to ensure the highest quality care for you and your pet throughout the practice.

To become accredited we volunteered for a rigorous inspection by an independent veterinary inspector. Our new premises were specially designed to fulfil the stringent criteria required. Our state-of-the-art equipment including ultrasound, electrocardiography and digital radiography enable us to investigate your pets’ disorders in depth.
